Gli autori e le autrici di questa sezione ci raccontano
delle moderne istituzioni per anziani alcuni aspetti
significativi. In primo luogo la funzione terminale
che esse svolgono di custodia delle persone destinate
ad attendere passivamente la morte. In secondo
luogo, che esse costituiscono dei contenitori per
persone in età sempre più spesso inferiore ai
sessant’anni considerate ormai degli “esuberi”
sociali. Quindi non anziane in senso anagrafico ma
sociale.
The exhibited authors narrate us of the modern
institutions for elderly people, signalling some
relevant and common aspects. First, the terminal
role of custody for people destined to wait passively
for death that those institutions play. Then, they
state that those places are becoming beacons of
people, more and more often under 60, considered
social “surplus”. This means that it is no longer a
matter of age but of social conventions to make
someone “elderly”.
