Animali disegnati a penna, a matita, a china, in questo si esprimeva la vena creativa di Pasquale Filacchione, nato a Roma nel 1939 ed entrato nell’ospedale psichiatrico a ventisette anni. Per disegnare Pasquale si svegliava molto presto la mattina. A chi gli ha chiesto il perché di questo rituale mattiniero Filacchione ha risposto: “per me è molto importante iniziare il giorno con sforzi potenti, c’è qualcosa che devo tirare fuori , così mi sento meglio”.
Oltre che disegnare Pasquale scriveva su grandi fogli racconti di genere giallo.
Filacchione è morto in manicomio all’inizio del 1998. E’ stato tra i promotori del laboratorio di pittura del Padiglione ottavo dell’Ospedale psichiatrico S. Maria della Pietà di Roma.

Pasquale Filacchione’s creativity was expressed by drawing animals with pencils, ball-point pens and Indian ink. He was born in Rome in 1939 and entered the psychiatric hospital aged twenty-seven.
In order to draw, Pasquale used to wake up early in the morning. When he was asked the reason of this morning ritual, he answered: “To me it is really important to begin the day with powerful efforts. There is something I need to express, so I feel better”.
Pasquale also wrote detective stories on wide paper sheets.
He died in the asylum at the beginning of 1998. He was among the participants of the 8th Pavillon’s painting workshops in the “Santa Maria della Pietà” psychiatric hospital in Rome.
