Nei bracci della morte degli Stati Uniti attualmente vivono nel
tormento dell’attesa, denunciato da uno degli autori in mostra,
oltre 3.000 prigionieri, tra cui una sessantina di donne; per lo
più poveri ed emarginati, in prevalenza neri e ispanici. Negli
Usa gli stati della federazione che oggi mantengono la pena di
morte sono 32, quelli che l’hanno abolita 18. La pena capitale
incombe ancora sulla maggioranza degli abitanti del pianeta
dato che tra i paesi che la conservano figurano quelli più
popolosi. I paesi che l’hanno abolita totalmente nel mondo
sono 102. In Europa un solo paese, la Bielorussia, continua ad
usare la pena di morte.
In the American death rows more than 3.000 prisoners
currently live in the torment of waiting denounced by one of the
authors in the exhibition, among which about 60 are women.
They are mostly poor and outcasts, especially Black and
Hispanic defendants. In the USA there are 32 federal States
that still have capital punishment, against 18 that abolished it.
Death penalty hovers on most of the planet’s inhabitants, since
the majority of the States that still allow it are among the most
populated ones. The States who abolished it completely in the
world are 102. In Europe, only one State, Byelorussia, keeps
inflicting the capital punishment.
